Geocache Description:

The Park

Arthur McElhone Reserve is one of the most beautiful parks in Sydney. These immaculately kept gardens offer a place to relax in the busy suburbs of Elizabeth Bay and Kings Cross. There are plenty of seats along the back of the park which offer breathtaking views of Elizabeth Bay and beyond, and grass to read, sunbake, sleep and do whatever you want on. A small stream runs through the park, in which you can see some amazing waterlillies and some ENORMOUS fish.

The House

"Built at 'very considerable expense', Elizabeth Bay House was once the finest house in the colony, set within a garden of the most remarkable extravagance and fancy." It was built between 1835 and 1839 for Colonial Secretary Alexander Macleay on land granted by governor Ralph Darling. Originally surrounded by a 54 acre garden, this historic house is most famous for its central elliptical saloon with domed lantern and geometric staircase. Today it is open to the public as a museum, so you can go inside and experience the beauty of this house as well as Macleay's library, posessions, etc.

The Cache

There is no room for swaps, BYO PEN. I strongly encourage you to take a photo (or selfie) of the enourmous fishy inhabitants of the pond, and anything else in the park, because it all looks good in the photos. This park can be popular on nice days though, so take extra care when hunting and retrieving the cache (have added an extra star of difficulty for this). **FTF** honours to ADI

Please ensure you wedge the cache firmly back in position
