St Andrew’s Church stands on a rise overlooking the village of Middleton on the Wolds on the A614. The church is an ancient building of stone in the Early English style, consisting of chancel, nave, aisles, south porch and a western tower containing a clock and 6 bells.
A lot of restoration work was carried out on the church in 1874 but the original masonry, the chancel, dating from around 1220 and the nave, dating from around 1300, still survive to this day.
In 1966 the church was designated as a Grade ll listed building and is now recorded in the National Heritage list for England.
The church yard contains four medieval tombstones but is no longer used for burials. These are now being carried out on a site on the outskirts of the village.
