This trip is four-wheel drives only. Once the driveable path ends you need to follow a path along a wadi for about 1Km with an easy scramble up rocks towards the end. A nice one for children and adults alike.
This trip is for four-wheel drive vehicles only. You cannot drive all the way to the cache so be prepared to be away from your vehicle for about an hour. You need to cross several wadis that look as if they probably have water flowing through them after rain.
Go North from Riyadh on the MAJMAH road past JANADRIAH and past KKWRC (King Khalid Wildlife Research Centre). At Pylon GD147B. Turn right onto the track.
You are heading towards a big wide valley that divides the escarpment. Head into it following the tracks to N25°32.801'; E046°29.923’ where the drivable track ends. There is a pleasant campsite close by. However please be wary, at night this is the playground of the Zombies from Hadlortain.
You now have to walk up a beautiful wadi, The Enchantress’ Mall, to the next checkpoint at N25°33.234’; E046°30.254'. You can identify it by some caves formed by fallen rock. You will have walked about one Km.
Go behind the rocks and upwards following what would on Earth be recognisable as a camel track passing through an obvious “gate” in the rocks to the last checkpoint at N25°33.225’; E046°30.309’.
From here you will see a “Fat Man’s Squeeze” heading SSE between some enormous rocks. This is the time to unsheathe your enchanted sword of Scalim as you proceed down the squeeze to the end where, on the left, you will see the bedchamber of Princess Devilina. Go right into the Crack of Doom and after about 20m, just before you need to scramble up the rocks, there is a crack on the right, which leads to the Mines of Deadlyiron. The passage is too narrow for surface-earth-beings to negotiate but the cache is here and comprises Her Highness’ best Tupperware box with a red lid.
When replacing the box please take care to ensure it is above where any winter water might flow and out of sight of any passing adventurers that may be on missions not connected with this particular cache.
On the way home why not visit two meteor craters at N25°31.272’; E046°26.503’ which have been lined and were used to provide water for the nearby Wildlife Research Centre. You will notice the channels intended to catch water and feed it into the reservoirs.
