Here is a bit of History behind the cache
On the 16th of December 1944 German forces launched a last ditch effort to win in the west by attacking the Allies and mostly US Forces in the Ardennes Forest in Belgium. Their goal was to take the Belgium cities of Antwerp and Brussels. Doing this, the Allies in the west would have no major port able to keep their Army’s supplied. Germany would end up sending 300,000 men into the attack while the Allies would put 737,000 by the end of the battle. It would be the US biggest battle with 610,000 men alone. Germany would launch 3 thrusts; North, Center and South. In the North the Germans were stopped at Elsenborn Ridge (About 160 from Brussels, Belgium) by the26th of December 1944. In the Center the German’s had more success as this is where they advanced the furthest but were stopped at Foy-Note-Dame (About 100Km from Brussels, Belgium) by Christmas Eve. Meanwhile in the South, German Forces would be forced to lay siege to the Belgium city of Bastogne (160km from Brussels, Belgium) from the 21st to the 26th of December 1944. The US 101st Airborne Division would lead in the city’s defense and when asked by the German Commander to surrender the American Commander said Nuts! General Patton’s 3rd Army relieved Bastogne on the 26th of December 1944 after launching a Counter Attack on the 23rd. By the 25th of January 1945 Germany had lost the battle and the War in the West was decided
