Geocache Description:

Many years ago, before the park was a park, Pocahontas lived and played near here in an area that was very similar to this one. Pocahontas, which means "Playful One," was a nickname given to her by her father, Powhatan. Chief Powhatan's main encampment (Werowocomoco) and Pocahontas' home lay just across the York River from the present day park. Many things that you see today, she saw when she was growing up. Complete this geocache and discover some new things about Pocahontas and York River State Park! This cache is part of the Virginia State Parks 80th Anniversary Adventure. Each state park has a unique cache for this series.

This cache is in a clear lock-n-lock container and will contain a logbook, pencil and unique collector's card. There are small prizes for finding 5, 10, 20, and ALL of the caches. Most parks require a small parking fee while geocaching. For more information go to: http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/parkfees.shtml
