How Geocaching Works

This series is all about the wonderful places we get to experience as geocachers in Colorado. We get to play in and explore scenery that most other cachers only dream of. Unfortunately, many people don't respect these areas as much as we do. This series is our opportunity to help maintain the great playground we call Colorado. These locations may be a little more difficult than cleaning up a parking lot or roadside but we can handle it. We are Colorado Cachers after all.
We will meet at the listed GZ which is the trailhead for Horsetooth Mountain at 07:30 We will then proceed up and down the trail (5 miles total) cleaning as we go until we clean up everything we find. Once we have cleaned up the trail we will continue our efforts in the parking lot. The event will continue likely until 09:30 but I confess I will be staying past that time if I am not done cleaning all that I can find.
We will attempt to take a group photo in the parking lot using this webcam.
We will bring bags. You will want to bring:
- Sunscreen Apply early and often.
- Water There is no acces to water past the trailhead.
- Snacks We will be cleaning a mountain trail - lots of calories burned.
- Gloves We are picking up trash after all.
- Each cacher will be responsible for the small fee required to enter the park.
- We will obey all park rules and regulations.
Put this event on your watchlist for updates. As with any outdoor event in Colorado, the weather is subject to change. I will monitor weather conditions.
