The name of this village, Llanfiangel-ar-Arth comes from the name of the 6th century parish church of St Michael.
This village was the location of one of the Rebecca Riots when a tollhouse was destroyed in June 1843 by a group of some 150 people.
The railway line from Carmarthen to Lampeter ran though Llanfihangel, which had its own station called Bryn Teifi. It closed to passenger traffic in the 1960s, but remained open to frieght traffic until 1973. There is another cache at the location of the station.
