The rail line between Canberra & Cooma was closed to passenger trains in September 1988 after the bridge over Numeralla Creek was deemed unsafe, freight services along this line ceased in May 1989.
The 49km section between Queanbeyan and Michelago was reopened in April 1993 for heritage tourist operation however this was suspended in the beginning of 2007 due to storm damage.
The rail had stops in Royalla, Williamsdale, Michelago, Colinton, Bredbo, Billilingra, Chakola, Bunyan and Cooma, with bridges crossing Ingalara Creek, Bredbo & Numeralla Rivers and a tunnel under the hill at Colinton.
It is recommended that you park on Kelly Road or park at the end of the small road near "The Forgotten Series - Forgotten Bridge 3 - Deep Creek" and walk along the rail. There is a small vehicle track just off Kelly Road that can take you near this cache which can be used however it is not in the best condition.
To access this cache you will need to utilise your climbing skills however it is nothing too hard just a little bit of rock scrambling. There is a small body of water nearby so you might want to make sure you have dry boots and keep an eye on the Geokiddies.
