Geocache Description:

Easy to find once you get there. Don't be fooled by the first half of your journey!

Update 10/09/2002: Cache container and location have been updated. The container is now a small ammo container and the location is about 20 feet from the original location. Naturally occuring tools may be helpful in getting and replacing cache. Please try to replace it in the same fashion it was hidden. New pictures will be posted when available.
Following a hat trick of Lost Kendall Wilderness Cache, Kendall's Highpoint and Young Lyon we decided to place a cache that I had scouted out earlier in the week. We had such a great time with Best Cache by a Dam Site! and Up the Creek without a Paddle a couple of weeks ago that I knew we had to do one along a similar theme. The cache is located in the Hannaford Woods Forest Preserve in Sugar Grove. The eastern edge of the preserve is populated with great Red, White and Burr Oaks while the western edge is clipped by Blackberry Creek as it flows south from Waubonsee Community College. The container is fairly easy to find once you get there. The cache originally was stocked with a logbook, a camera for you to take your picture (you will have earned it!), first aid kit, some AA batteries, a couple of trash out bags (though there is not likely to be much to find) and to exchange:
  • Audi key fob,
  • Sacagawea dollar,
  • US flag pin,
  • Plush elephant magnet,
  • 3 rare Earth magnets.
Note the terrain rating. I may be a bit off in the minds of some...I welcome your feedback! George is 9 and Collin is 8. They made it but I doubt that my wife would have done so or approved of my bringing them along! It is quite possible for one part of your group to follow the progress of the more adventurous from a less challenging trail and still enjoy the rest of the preserve with the others. For those wishing to try a more challenging terrain but are limited by other team members, this cache may be a nice solution. Parking and a toilet is available but drinking water is not. Good luck. We look forward to your logs! Dad and the Dynamic Duo George, George and Collin
