[RU] На восточной окраине Великого Новгорода, посреди Рождественского кладбища стоит церковь Рождества Христова на Красном поле. Немногие новгородцы бывали в этих местах. Да и сам храм не стремится выставлять себя напоказ, прячется за кладбищенскими деревьями. Церковь кажется как бы вросшей в землю. Простой силуэт древнего храма выглядит приземистым, грубоватым. Интерьер скромен. Но гостей сюда влекут красочные реалистичные фрески, реставрация которых заняла более 10 лет.
Первое упоминание о церкви Рождества относится к 1226 году. Известно также о существовании на этом месте с 13 века скудельниц (братских погребений бродяг, беглых, жертв эпидемий). Ныне существующий храм построен в 1382 году повелением князя Димитрия Донского (якобы) почтившего новгородцев участников Куликовской битвы. В своё время церковь была главным храмом Рождественского монастыря. Затем стала кладбищенской. Второе её название — церковь Рождества на Кладбище.
В наши дни церковь существует как музейный объект. Внешний обзор храма затруднен из-за множества деревьев, однако в его интерьере сохранилась уникальная роспись 14 века. На монастырском кладбище можно найти могилу Любови Петровны Рахманиновой, матери выдающегося русского композитора Сергея Васильевича Рахманинова. На могильной плите надпись: «Матери, подарившей миру гения». За могилой ухаживают студенты музыкального училища.

On the eastern outskirts of Velikiy Novgorod the middle of the Nativity cemetery stands the Church of the Nativity of Our Savoir at Red Field. Not many citizens have ever been in this place. And the temple as well temple does not seek to flaunt, hiding behind graveyard trees. The church seems to be grown deep into the ground. A simple silhouette of the ancient temple looks stumpy and rough. The interior is modest. But many visitors come here attracted with bright lifelike murals, restoration of which took more than 10 years.
The first mentioning of the church of the Nativity dates back to 1226. It is also known that in the 13th century there were communal graves here for poor people, including vagrants, runaways and victims of epidemics. The church, which is now standing in the cemetery, was built in 1382 by order of Prince Dmitry Donskoy (allegedly), who showed his respect to Novgorod participants of the Kulikov battle. At that time, the church was the main temple of the Nativity monastery, which existed here. Then the place was turned into a cemetery. Thus, the temple got its second name – The church of Nativity at the cemetery.
Nowadays the temple is a part of Novgorod museum network. The external view of the church is obstructed by the trees but the original look of the church and unique frescos of the 14th century have been preserved till today. Lyubov Rachmaninova, the mother of the outstanding Russian composer Sergey V. Rachmaninoff along with some other famous people was buried in the churchyard. The gravestone says: “Mother, who gave a genius to the World”. The grave is maintained by students of music academy.
