Partendo dalla casa dell'imperatore che era situata in un area approssimativamente stimata vicino alle attuali Colonne di San Lorenzo, si percorreva 3 miglia per arrivare a quella che poi divenne la via Novara.
Così il villaggio venne chiamato Trebennius = 3° Miglio.
Ma quanto era lungo allora un miglio?
Il miglio di allora, era un unità di misura che variava tra "1 e 2 degli attuali Km " e veniva misurato in passi. e ad ogni miglio veniva inserito nel terreno un Cippo in pietra.
Ogni miglio misurava 1482,5 metri nello specifico la distanza tra il punto di distacco e quello di appoggio dello stesso piede durante il cammino. (1,48 m) il doppio a rispetto di quello di oggi.
I Romani che per motivi di stato, o di commercio attraversavano Mediolanum per recarsi in quello che noi conosciamo con il nome di Piemonte si introducevano tramite le piste dell'ambra e giungevano a Trenno percorrendo 4447,5 passi. (3 miglia)
