Geocache Description:

Traditional Cache. 35mm Film pot with log only - BYOP

The name of this road in St Ippolyts has always puzzled me as there is, as far as I know, no folly in the area. To the south, after a little kink to the left, Folly Lane continues as a track that once had a tarmac surface, leading to Little Armshoe. In the other direction it goes to the church and then disappears - did it connect with Folly Path in Hitchin. Perhaps there was never a folly, but it was folly (stupidity) to go along this lane.

The cache is a film pot with just a log, so bring your writing instrument. Folly Lane joins Spurberry Hill at this point (Spurberry House is just across the road), and at times this junction can be quite busy. There are no convenient parking places close by, so I suggest you park by the church in St Ippolyts and walk back. DO NOT try to park in the gateway close to the cache as it is dangerous both to you and other road users. The cache is easily retrieved without leaving the road, but because of the situation, I do not think it is child, wheelchair or stroller friendly. If you do have pets or children with you, remember this is a narrow lane and there is nowhere to take refuge.Once you have found the cache, make sure it is well hidden in its little hole as it will otherwise be visible from the road.
