Where? Studio A at the Evergreen Cultural Centre - 1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam, BC
When? February 29th from 9pm to 11pm
Doors open and sign-up for the performance starts at 9pm
Show starts at 9:30pm sharp!
What? "Open Mic" means that anyone who would like to participate can sign up to have their five minutes of fame on our little stage. The theme of the evening is Geocaching and the Great Outdoors. So skits about searching under shrubbery, poems about parklands, and ballads about barn owls are all welcome. And nobody will complain if you riff into "Hotel California" because who among us hasn't stayed in a hotel while caching?
Acts will be scheduled in order of sign-up and have a 5-minute time limit. 12 time slots will be available and performers can go up twice if there is still space after their first performance.
Of course, there will be microphones. There is an electric piano and an acoustic guitar onsite, but feel free to bring your own instruments. We can also play CDs or hook up to an iPod or phone if you'd like to use backing tracks. Keep in mind, our stage is very small, so let us know if you need more space for your ensemble cast of can-can dancers.
IMPORTANT NOTE: PLEASE, NO INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT! Yes, it's late, and there probably won't be any kids at this event, but please refrain from using excessive swear words, or violent or sexual references in your performance. Also, please don't use this as a soapbox to rant about another cacher - unless you're both part of the act!
One more thing - please feel free to unabashedly market yourself in your Will Attend log. Tell us what you plan to do! And if you're looking to team up with someone for a performance, mention that too. There is still time to create, compose, and rehearse before the big night. We're also encouraging double-dog-dares for those cachers in our community who we know can't help but put themselves in the spotlight!
