Garrapata State Park is one of our favorite places. The views here from many different places throughout the park are second to none. There is something for everyone. For families or the less adventurous there are easy trails. There is a beach further south with an area called "Calla Lily Valley"! For the more adventurous ones, there's the steep hike up Rocky Ridge Trail or the hike into the redwoods along Soberanes Canyon Trail. For more information about the park: http://www.parks.ca.gov/pages/579/files/GarrapataSPWeb2012Rev.pdf
There is parking just north of Ground Zero(GZ) and parking close to the barn on both sides of the highway. There are port-a-potties near the barn.
Please stay on the trails within the new railings. Parks and Recreation just put in these new railings and bridge. These boundaries are there for our safety, to control the erosion of this fragile ecosystem, and so others can keep enjoying this beautiful park.
From the parking north of GZ, take the trail west and down the steps to the new bridge. Take the bridge across Soberanes Creek and take the narrow trail to the left. When you are on this trail you are near GZ. Again please stay on the trail. No need to bushwack here. The cache is within reach while standing on the trail. The cache is in a plactic camo ammo container and you will not find it in thorny bushes.
To the first finder(#1), there is a gift card to Peet's Coffee. The girls and I had a great time finding swag for our first cache. There are two new travel tags.
We hope you have fun finding it and take time to enjoy the rest of the park!
