TIME TRAVEL AT SCRABO TOWER
In the UK the clocks go forward 1 hour at 1am on the last Sunday in March (the date of this event), and back 1 hour at 2am on the last Sunday in October.
The period when the clocks are 1 hour ahead is called British Summer Time (BST). There's more daylight in the evenings and less in the mornings (sometimes called Daylight Saving Time).
When the clocks go back, the UK is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
EVENT DETAILS
Date: Sunday 27th March 2016
Time: This event will commence at 00:45hrs and last for 30 minutes which means that due to the clock change, the event will actually finish at 02:15hrs.
Where: At the published co-ords (Scrabo Tower)
Parking: There is ample free parking at N 54° 34.640 W 005° 43.087 and it's a short uphill walk to the meeting co-ordinates (Scrabo Tower) along a well maintained path.
Why: Sure it's something a little different and it's an opportunity to meet other geocachers, share caching stories and tips, trade & discover travel bugs and geocoins, meet the person behind the logbook signature, talk about geocaching plans for the day ahead & further, ask questions and take heart that you're not the only one crazy enough to be here at a stupid hour on a Sunday morning.
While the event will technically finish in 'British Summer Time', it's unlikely to be t-shirt and shorts weather at this time of year and at this time of night so please be sure to dress accordingly.
A logbook will be available to sign with FTF being drawn once everyone has done so. FTF prize is a large (4 inch) un-activated FTF geocoin as pictured below.
