Walking this track today was a trip back in time for me, as this entire area was and extension of my child hood playground growing up at the then brand new Lands and Survey (Later DoC) rangers station.
GZ is just up from another popular swimming whole in the area known as “Fairly falls” in my day it was a popular hang out place for the “wannabie tough guys”, school wagers and their presences could be heard all along the track.
GZ is also the spot where In the 80's I left a neat pile of seasoned firewood, when asked to lighten our packs for the river crossing, much to the amusement of the teachers..
