Light pole caches have become common, ordinary and boring. This cache is a reach for more traditional values striving for an artisanal effect.
Not all light poles have to be standarized. The light poles along the Pomeroy trail look more like a throwback to old gas lights of 1800's. They still have the basic construction of a pole bolted to a base with a skirt. Here even the skirt is outside of the common design but still functions as a good hiding location
This light pole cache is not in a shopping center although that is a good place to start on the Pomeroy trail. You will have to walk along the paved walking trail that uses the old Pomeroy RR right of way as it heads through Newark and up to White Clay Creek State Park. The trail provides a connection from the north campus of UofD to Newark, so it is paved, lighted and has frequent emergency call boxes. There is no parking where the trail crosses Cleveland Ave, so from the closest legit parking it will be about a 0.3 mile walk. Be careful crossing Cleveland Ave.
The cache is not some ordinary film container or pill bottle. This special container carries the official seal of the President of the United States!
