One of the major parks in Welland, when we first moved here it was simply the playground (NW corner) in the summer and the small hill for tobogganing (SW corner) in the winter.
Didn't realize there was SO MUCH MORE to this park until geocaching took us to other parts we never visited before and offered many surprises. Despite visiting a dozen times, the entire East side was unexplored by us and housed areas like the rose garden, the statue of Ablan, and the Crowland War Memorial. All this was unknown to us until Stripey the Bear took us around the park geocaching - back when I would still be considered a muggle. It showed us that geocaching can bring us to interesting things right in our own backyard - things that we would pass by and never know otherwise.
Since then geocaching has shown us so much more, but it was having us discover new things in a park we’ve visited a dozen of times already that opened our eyes for the first time as to just how great this geocaching game is.
So enjoy the hunt and the park! There is a large field, rolling hills, gorgeous trees, a pond, volleyball courts, baseball diamond, splash pad, pavilion, etc, in addition to the aforementioned rose garden, playgrounds, and war memorial. There is ample parking all around.
The cache itself is a camo’d micro bison tube (so BYOP). Please be stealthy.
