The 2016 Forvie CITO Event Cache In Trash Out® Event

This cache has been archived.

Thathanka: Time to archive. Thank you for attendance.
4 'attended' logs make me think that the CITO is not required and for sure is not desired by community. There's a big question mark over future such events. Maybe it's time to let others do it better.

Geocache Description:

Second CITO event in Forvie!

This event wouldn't be possible without support of good people from Forvie National Narure Reserve.

Why Forvie NNR? Because this is place of unique beauty and home of numerous representative of sea life and birds. Sea littering is global problem and Forvie is great magnifying glass of this problem. We'll have possibility to do something good for the wildlife in the area and although it's just a drop in the ocean of needs it's a drop on positive side of the scale.

The Clean Up

We meet at given coordinates of Parking place and arrival time is planned between 10:45 and 11:00. After safety briefing we'll go to the beach and start cleaning. Straight after the brief we will do to the beach and get started on cleaning. This should take no more than 2 hours and after that we'll meet at the same parking, where bins for litter will be delivered.

Bags for litter, gloves, litter pickers will all be supplied by Forvie NRR but feel free to bring along your own. Because we'll be working very close to the water (what's not a surprise on the beach) wellies may be pretty smart idea.

To dog owners

As you know Forvie Reserve is a home for many birds. Now they have nesting season and dogs must be on leads. It is an offence to allow a dog to disturb nesting birds at Forvie. It's highly recommended that dogs are not taken as it's unlikely one can control a dog and pick up litter at the same time. Dogs can be walked before and after the event, but must be kept close to the owner.

Collected rubbish will be stored in the containers organised by Aberdeenshire Council.

General Safety Advice

Do not work alone and keep a first aid kit handy.
Always wear gloves and use litter pickers.
Do not lift anything heavy without help.
Use the right tool for the job.
Keep the work area tidy and safe.
If you do not like the look of it, do not touch it!

Because we're still finalizing details there may be some little changes. Watch this space! If you log "will attend" you'll receive notification of any important announcements.
