Geocache Description:

The scene of a troll battle at the site of a tranquil park

I don't know if anyone is aware of it but it seems like little Hess Park was the site of a troll battle in eons past.  After consulting the Troll DNA Database it seems that there were hill trolls that lived to the north and river trolls that lived, surprisingly, by the river.  The Columbia River salmon were a delicacy to both types of trolls and the river trolls were quite fierce in their defense of their favorite fishing spots.  Usually the hill trolls would stay in the hills but occassionally they woud try to make a salmon run when they thought the river trolls weren't around.  These two caches show that the hill trolls were mistaken in their assumption that the river trolls were gone.  They were there and this rocky bluff reflects the carnage.

This cache is at the remains of a river troll that fell in the melee.  The cache is a medium lock and lock full of goodies and an unactivated geocoin for FTF.

Hess Park is at the north end of The Dalles bridge. Go down the gravel road, park by the gate and head towards the battle site.  The easiest way to the cache is to go to the south end of the park and follow the trail up on top to the cache site.
