The Texas EXtraordinary Achievement Series was created several years ago to BRAND one of our favorite parks with the name of the GREAT STATE of TEXAS!
Over the years, the series has endured droughts, floods, and a significant fire, all of which have changed the terrain and caused damage to caches and/or their hiding locations. Since it takes significant effort to hike through the series, it can be disappointing if caches are missing or have been dislodged from the hiding spots due to unforeseen circumstances. This cache is there to provide some replacement caches for people aspiring to grab the "A" part of the series. Inside this cache I have included several pre-tethered soda tubes for people to take out along their way to do the "A". Usually maintenance will not be required if the caches have been found recently, so please check the logs of the series to see if you need to take out a container or two.
This cache will also provide you with a good idea of the terrain you will encounter along the way during the TEXAS series. It's a challenge - the area is a flood plain reservoir, so depending on the time of year, it can be extremely wet. If it's wet, bring waders and snake boots. If it's dry, it can be extremely thorny, so wear pants and snake boots. If it's the one day out of the year in Houston that has perfect weather, then enjoy yourself, bring water and of course... snake boots. There are wild animals to be seen, such as snakes, raccoons, possum, armadillos, deer, feral pigs, and if you are extraordinarily lucky, even bobcats.
