Bagpuss Episode 2 - The Owls of Athens

It has Ancient Greek writing on it: ΑΘΕ, which means Athens...
There, you ignorant mice, if you remember that, you will really know something.

(Professor Yaffle)

This is the second of a weekly series dedicated to Bagpuss. Episode two was first broadcast at 1:45 pm on Tuesday 19th February 1974.

Synopsis:

Emily brings in a dirty piece of rag. The mice run away in fear after they cleaned it and revealed a picture of an owl. Yaffle identifies it as one of the Owls of Athens. Madeleine tells the others the story of how the owls lost the ability to sing, and just hooted instead. The object is finally identified as a cushion cover for the Bony King of Nowhere.
