Geocache Description:

ORS - One Room School series. Located near where this cache is placed was the Youngs School, Fractional District 8. A school is shown here (on Bowers) on the 1863 plat map. It is unknown if the frame structure that was still standing in 1994 was the same as the one from 1863, but it's possible. The school had a "modern" block addition built around the 1930's or 40's. The school was torn down about 1998. It was named after a family who's property it was built on (John P. Youngs).

North of this cache on the east side of the road is a farm. On the north side of the creek running through that farm was a blacksmith and on the south was a steam saw mill. No remnants of either left, it's been a farmers field for decades. There was a house on Bowers on the same corner as this cache, it burned many years ago. The church north of here first appeared on a map in 1915.  This area never developed into a town. This intersection is where four townships come together: Attica (SE), Arcadia (NE), Lapeer (SW) and Mayfield (NW).

CACHE: Should be somewhat winter friendly. Placed a little bit for the hide, but mostly for the history of the location.

Congrats to *S&M* for [FTF] and P E M for [STF]
