White Horse Pacified was built 1987 by artist Julie Livsey. Made of Steel and concrete, the sculpture was completed during an international artist exchange between Swindon and Lisbon, Portugal and funded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Southern Arts, Wiltshire County Council and Thamesdown Borough Council. The work is an interpretation of the famous chalk cut white horses surrounding Swindon
When originally completed, the sculpture was visible from Mead Way but now sadly the area is somewhat overgrown. This work has a personal connection to me as indicated by the cache name, as my father was the subcontractor who fabricated and assembled the steelwork based on the artist's scale model.
Please feel free to add more stick-o-flage and ensure the cache itself is not visible when replacing
