Geocache Description:

The 14th Annual Cache In Trash Out Weeks are scheduled for April 16 – 24 and September 17 – 25, 2016. That's right! This year, we get two whole weeks in 2016 and not just one weekend!

By taking part in a CITO event during these dates, you can earn a souvenir for your profile!

Cache In, Trash Out

Cache In Trash Out, or CITO, is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers around the world have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources!

For the past 13 years, geocachers around the world have celebrated International Cache In Trash Out weekend annually by hosting and participating in Cache In Trash Out Events in their local area. This year, the CITO celebration has been extended to two entire weeks. CITO Week Events might be focused on litter clean-up, removal of invasive species, revegetation efforts or building trails. Together, we make an enormous positive impact. Did we mention that we also have a bit of fun while we're at it?

The Event

The event will take place on Sunday 24th April 2016 from midday. The clean up will last for at least an hour. Please try to arrive on time as it's unfair to turn up after an hour just to sign the logbook when other attendees have been doing great work for the last hour!

The coordinates given are for the car park near Europe's First (GC43). From here we will split in to teams to clean up and also to plant trees! This is the first CITO where we will be planting trees so I'm very excited to make this hugely positive impact to the environment in Bray!

Directions

Cars can be parked free of charge at the Raheen Park car park. Please note that parking is at your own risk. Alternatively, you can park along Bray Promenade (also free on a Sunday).

If you don't have access to a car, you can take the DART to Bray and walk along the promenade to GZ (maximum 20 minute walk). The 145 bus will also leave you to Bray DART station.

What to Bring

  • Work or garden gloves (required)
  • A litter picker, if you have one
  • Hiking Boots/Wellingtons
  • Rainwear

This event is being organised in conjunction with Wicklow County Council and we will have litter pickers, gloves, bin bags and gardening tools provided by them. If you have your own litter pickers and gloves, please bring them along so we can ensure we have enough for everyone.
