Montabone (Montabon in piemontese) è un comune di 367 abitanti della provincia di Asti. Vi stupirà questo gioiellino di paese, arroccato sul colle che gli dà il nome, in magnifica posizione panoramica e in felice situazione climatica. Terra di grandi vini a DOC e DOCG, tra cui spiccano i dolci Moscato e Brachetto, il delicato Dolcetto e le robuste Barbere d'Asti e del Monferrato, ma anche luogo d'arte e di storia, che conserva nella sua chiesa alcuni capolavori di Guglielmo Caccia detto il Moncalvo, il massimo esponente della pittura piemontese tra Cinque e Seicento che proprio in questo minuscolo borgo, nella contrada detta Alla Valle, vide la luce nel 1568.
