Knowledge is access to information and too often we are dependent upon television, radio, or the internet for our sustained education. The ability to read and the opportunity to acquire new information or inexpensive entertainment lies within your own mind and a book provides access to our creative mind which allows independent thought. Albert Einstein, has been quoted as stating: "Imagination is more important than intelligence!" Books feed our imagination.
A Little Free Library is a "take a book, leave a book" free book exchange. They come in many shapes and sizes, but the most common version is a small wooden box of books. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share. Little Free Library book exchanges have a unique, personal touch. There is an understanding that real people are sharing their favorite books with their community; Little Libraries have been called "mini-town squares." As of January 2016, there are over 36,000 registered Little Free Library book exchanges in all 50 U.S. states and over 70 countries around the world.
