Vous voici sur le passage piéton de la rue René Aubert, dos à l’église Sainte Jeanne d’Arc.
Vous découvrez à gauche une petite porte permettant d’accéder au jardin de la Villa « Cassandre », construite en 1924 par l’architecte Auguste Perret (et son frère Gustave), connu pour avoir reconstruit le centre ville du Havre, aujourd’hui inscrit au patrimoine mondial de l’humanité. Il ne vous faudra parcourir que quelques mètres pour en découvrir la façade.
Adolphe Jean Marie Mouron, alias Cassandre, était un célèbre graphiste à qui on doit notamment les fameuses affiches « Dubo, Dubon, Dubonnet ».
En remontant un peu la rue Aubert, vous découvrez la Villa « Bomsel » au numéro 12, également construite en 1924 par l’architecte André Lurçat, un très bel exemple du courant architectural des années 20 qu’on appelait « Style international ».
Edmond Bomsel était avocat, collectionneur, mécène et administrateur d’une maison d’édition aujourd’hui disparue.
Si ces deux villas sont classées aux monuments historiques, vous pourrez encore découvrir au numéro 7, la villa « Michel » construite en 1926 pour la belle famille d’Edmond Bomsel.
