Fire Monkey Traditional Cache

This cache is temporarily unavailable.

RedHiker: Hi, GriffinMasters,

I see that your cache has not been found for a couple of years. It may still be there, missing, or damaged, but enough time has passed since it was successfully located that you should visit it. I will disable it to remove it from the list of active caches. Please check on your geocache to see if it is still there. If it is, please leave a note for geocachers and re-enable it. This will let people know they can look for it again.

If you can't verify that your cache is still in place, it might be time to archive it.

Now that your geocache has been disabled as a cache owner, there are three options available for you:

  1. Visit your cache, verify any issues with it, then fix and enable your cache within the next 30 days so that it can move out of this state of limbo.
  2. After visiting your cache, if you are not able to fix it in the next 30 days, then please create a new log note on your cache page letting the reviewer know you are aware that your cache needs attention and how/when you plan to take care of it. The reviewer will monitor and reply to these notes.
  3. You can archive your cache, remove your container, and clean the area as needed.

Please note that Geocaching HQ has placed greater emphasis on "refreshing the game board," which means that volunteer Reviewers will be more actively following up to ensure caches are maintained or archiving them as needed to free up space for new caches to replace any old ones that were not being properly maintained.

If you take none of the actions listed above as the cache owner, this geocache will be archived by a volunteer reviewer.

Please note that geocaches archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ due to lack of maintenance are not eligible to be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

The Fire Monkey cache is found on the grounds of Merrill College at UCSC.  Please bring monkey related items to exchange!

Gung Hay Fat Choy!  Are you ambitious and adventurous, but irritable?  You may be a Fire Monkey.  The Monkey is ninth of the 12 animals in the recurring 12-year Chinese zodiac cycle. Every 12 years there is a Monkey year. If you were born in 2004, 1992, 1980, 1968, 1956, 1944, 1932 you are a monkey.  2016 is the year of the Fire Monkey!  (Monkey years are believed to be unlucky for people born in a year of the Monkey.  Find this cache and prove the stars wrong!)  Please leave monkey related item exchanges!

From Crown Circle make your way past the dining hall and Banana Joe's and take the path around the building to the left.  Continue until you get near the Merrill Cultural Center.  The cache is just off the path tucked in a gap at the base of a large redwood under some pine duff in a small camouflaged ice cream container.  Find the log inside a lucky red envelope.
