The first cache planted on the largest freshwater island in the world! A gentle hike along Lake Huron shoreline. Altitude is 175m.
This cache is a regular Tupperware container with a blue lid. Approx size is 8 x 4 x 3 inches.
It contains:
- Two Blue Jays cards
- A bag of decorative/collector pins
- Change purse
- Screw driver
- “Vista” coaster
If you want a good walk on the beach, park at the Tourist Info Centre and walk east on the boardwalk, then on the beach to the marina. Continue from the marina along the shore. If you just want a short walk, park at the marina. After you find the cache you can continue onwards to check out the scenery along the shore. I write this in July -- you may consider a different route in cold windy weather.
Note to parents: The kids may jump all over looking for fossils – be aware of the rock ledges - even a 2 ft drop can hurt.
The cache is well hidden between rocks and cedars. [relocated farther south down shore 2003-08-30]
