Waikato Region - Waipa District - Lake Arapuni Conservation Area - Landing Road (Arohena) Campsite

Lake Arapuni is one of several artificial lakes formed as part of a hydroelectricity scheme on the Waikato River. Most significant of Waikato River hydrolakes in terms of wildlife and wildlife habitat values, the lake occupies an area of 9,4 km⊃2; and reaches depth of 40m. The dam is located at the small settlement of Arapuni at the lake's northern end.
Landing Road (Arohena) campsite is a quite secluded yet spacious campground, located in Lake Arapuni Conservation Area. Perfect for swimming, picnicking, fishing and water sports; has flushing toilets! Anyway, check out DoC site for details.
Cache is hidden just outside the camping area at the lakeside (or riverbank if you prefer) by a nice and secluded small beach where you can take refuge, have a relaxing swim or your long-awaited romantic getaway if the main grounds are overrun by muggle swarms (not very likely to happen, though).
Beware! Or rather - enjoy - no cell coverage in campground area as of February 2016.
