Geocache Description:

Bridgewater 2016 Spring CITO Cleanup

Highway 103 - Exit 13 Carpool Parking Lot
Saturday, April 16, 1:30p.m.-2:30p.m.

It's that time again! With the disappearance of the snow, it's time for CITO, so come out and show your CARE for the environment!

We will be back again this year to clean up the garbage around the carpool parking lot at Exit 13. Since it's a small area it should not take a long time to accomplish with a good turnout, but due to the CITO guidelines the event is scheduled for one hour in length. If we finish cleaning early people are welcome to hang out and socialize. Garbage bags will be provided, but please bring your own work gloves since I won't have enough for everyone. Any children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

A trackable for the Nova Scotia CITO events will be available for purchase, as well as some CITO trackables left from last year. There will be the usual log to sign and some "out"door prizes. Hope to see people there!

This is being planned as a rain or shine event, but if there's a real downpour the event will happen from 6-7pm on Sunday evening.

In order to make sure everyone stays safe during the clean up, please note:

  • You should wear closed toe shoes to protect your feet.
  • Any children must be supervised by a parent/guardian to make sure they don't try to pick up anything better left for an adult to handle.
  • Make sure your work gloves are suitable for picking up garbage.
  • There will be blue bags for recyclables, and a bucket for any broken glass or sharp objects that shouldn't go in a garbage bag.
More instructions regarding safety will be given at the event. This event will also be submitted for inclusion in the Clean Nova Scotia Great Nova Scotia Pick-Me-Up. You can read their advice on cleanup procedures here.
