Geocache Description:

This is the 26th geocache from Team Family Affair. We created this cache while on tour visiting Panama. This virtual cache is located at Fort Portobelo, in the Portobelo National Park located along the Caribbean Sea coastline. This fort and market town was founded in the late 1500s. In the 1600s the fort and town was the site of much trading , pirate activity as well as a primary pathway for the transportation of Gold, silver and precious stones to Spain and Europe. For more information about this Fort and strong hold we suggest the web site- http://www.serve.com/CZBrats/PanamaViejo/portobel.htm. Also interesting and worthy of exploring is the legend and story of the Black Christ (at the little church in this immediate area), as well as the Customs House (built in 1630) where gold and silver was protected and stored while awaiting shipment.

To log this cache as a find you must:

  • Find the location and take a selfie picture of yourself and your team and post it to your “found log” on this geocache page. ,
  • We hope you enjoy this cache as much as we did creating it!
