This Geocache is the second in a series on the campus of Western New Mexico University (WNMU). All caches are placed with permission from the University.
Like the foundations WNMU was built on, Lennie Merle Besse Forward - after whom this building was named - was a woman who dedicated her life to teaching and education. She was a generous contributor to this community - donating funds to the Silver City Public Library, La Plata Middle School, Silver City Museum, and WNMU. According to an article in Desert Exposure, the Town of Silver City even purchased a majority of claims associated with Boston Hill in large part by the donation of Lennie Merle Besse Forward. Even after her death in 1999, her name continues on as an example of a strong woman, dedicated to changing the lives of young Americans and making a difference in her world.
To find this geocache, you need the attributes of a good teacher -- dedication, determination, resourcefulness, resilience, grit…. and a whole lot of passion and joy for geocaching. Small cache with a log only. BYOP
Congratulations, AHSprite64, on being the FTF. May your battle wounds heal up quickly. :)
