Slim Creek Flowage is a 106 acre lake located in Washburn County. The Washburn County Forestry Department maintains a picnic area and boat landing on the west side of Slim Creek Flowage. Fish include Panfish, Largemouth Bass and Northern Pike. More information on Slim Creek Flowage is available HERE.
This area of the Washburn County Forest is criss-crossed by ATV/snowmobile trails. There is also a network of county forest "roads" and walking trails, though it can be difficult at times to determine where the "roads" and "trails" start and the forest begins. You may need to do some bushwhacking. The County Forest map linked below may be helpful in navigating the area.

The cache container is a "watertight" plastic box about 7" x 4" x 2". It is located along the eastern shore of Slim Creek Flowage. Recommended access is by either canoe/kayak/other boat or by snowshoes once the flowage freezes in the winter.
Notes on Attributes:
- We did our very best to make this cache "winter friendly", but there's nothing about a winter with 6 feet of snow that can be construed as "friendly", and that's a bit out of our control. Sometimes caches get frozen in place. Please try not to do too much damage extracting a frozen cache.
- Though NOT required, in some cases, caches around Slim Creek Flowage may be easier to access by using some form of watercraft, or by seeking the cache during the winter.
- If you're out in the winter, snowshoes maybe the best way to go, but that's really up to you. Just a suggestion.
- If you don't have a boat or it's not winter (with the frozen water that comes with it), you may need to do some wading. Access from the east crosses some low areas that look a little marsh-like.
- It's northern Wisconsin, of course there are ticks, thorns, mosquitoes, flies and poison ivy (in the summer). Another cache in paradise.
Note to cachers seeking a FTF: If the log contains an entry in the form of "craizel, 3/x/16", this refers to the cache owner and the date placed, and does not refer to a FTF log entry.
