As this is a Watersports Paradise, the Cache is designed to get people out and into the bay. Yes its not the easiest cache to get to, but it is do able-on breath hold. However the distance and swimming from shore requires you to do it twice - think on this before removing the log
There is room for trackables inside the Canister, but the Canister does get filled with water. Please remember to take care of the Oring and seal correctly before taking the cache underwater again, and not to get any waterside the cache.
Pictures attached so that you have the foresight to know what it is you are looking for and how to open / close it. The red signs are to deter muggles, and a general warning that it may be dangerous. Finding it is a different proposition, but to anyone finding the cache I would be grateful if you could feedback on the condition, and give the Canister a scrub / clean out the inside when replacing the cache.
The Cache is located in the Non Motorised zone of Langebaan lagoon, so please only visit by Sail or rowing boat (or swim) Also do not use a hook of some kind to Lift the Cache and anchor out the water as this will likely break the connectors, and defeats the purpose of this cache.
I take no responsibility for anyone harming themselves or having an accident whilst accessing this cache.
The Cache is placed on the edge of the main channel draining /filling Langebaan Lagoon, consequently there will be strong currents, and it is best achieved at low tide. Following the debacle of those FTF's who failed to return the cache, I urge you to take responsibility in assessing your own ability in going out and returning the log.
There is absolutely nothing hidden in the name of the cache, this is Sharks Bay in Langebaan. There are large sharks in this region, the last attack (for want of better words) was on a swimmer on 29 August 1982, it was non fatal. You have been warned, you take your own chances.
Probably what is much more relevant is the odds of you being run over by a Kite surfer, or get sucked into the RIP current. I suggest that you go out before the Kite surfers hit the beach and arrive at the cache 30 minutes before a low tide, preferably either Spring or alternatively neap tide.
I will be listening to feedback and may consider moving the cache some 4m into the deeper water channel down to about 5m - apparently unnecessary.
I have taken two sets of coordinates as listed in the location and I have added the second set here (two different GPS's on two different days.) S33° 06. 879’ E018° 02.512’ However the cache is visible from the surface when directly overhead, so its best to keep your eyes peeled. By all accounts it is easy to locate, just very tiring!
FTF prize??? Oh yes - a hunk of seaweed!
