Das Geier-Knöttl
Vor einigen Jahrzehnten stellte man hier einen ausgestopften Uhu als Köder auf. Damit wurden im Frühjahr andere Greifvögel (Beutegreifer) angelockt. So konnten sie von Jägern leicht abgeschossen werden. Im Volksmund werden Greifvogelarten als "Geier" bezeichnet: Habicht (Hennengeier), Mäusebussard (Mausgeier), Falke (Stechgeier) und Sperber (Steaßlgeier). So entstand der Name "Geier-Knöttl"
Diese Felsnase ist für Raubvögel ein idealer Lande- und Startplatz. Die Luft wird von der Sonne am Phorphyrfelsen erwärmt uns strömt nach oben. So entsteht zeitweise ein starker Aufwind. Auch als Aussichtswarte ist diese Kuppe besonders geeignet. So können die "Geier" ihre Bäute (Mäuse, Schlangen und andere Kleintiere) ausspähen. Oft landen die Greifvögel mit der gefangenen Beute auch hier, um sie zu verzehren. Daher findet man am "Geier-Knöttl" häufig Knochen, Federn, Haare und Gewölle.
Geier-Knöttl: la "rupe dell´avvoltoio"
In questo punto, qualche decennio fa, fu posizionato a mo´ di esca un gufo impagliato, L´intento era di richiamarvi, in primavera, altri uccelli rapaci, facilitandone l´abbattimento da parte dei cacciatori. Tutti gli uccelli predatori sono comunemente chiamati "Geier" (it. avvoltoi) dalla gente della zona: dall´astore al falcone bozzago, del falco allo sparviero. Da qui, il nome "Geier-Knöttl": la "rupa dell´avvoltoio".
Questo sperone di roccia è un punto di decollo e atterraggio ideale per gli uccelli predatori. L´aria, riscaldata dai raggi del sole che toccano la roccia porfirica, risale verso lálto, originando occasionalmente forti correnti termiche ascensionali. La rupe è inoltre un punto di osservazione privilegiato. Da quassù gli "avvoltoi" possono spiare e tendere lágguato alle proprie prede (roditori, serpenti e altri piccoli animali). E, con la preda catturata, vi fanno spesso ritorno per consumarla sul posto. Non è raro dunque rinvenire nei pressi della "rupe dell`avvoltoio" frammenti di ossa, piume, peli e borre rigurgitate.
The Geier-Knöttl (vulture perch)
A few decades ago, a stuffed owl was set out as a decoy. It was used to attract other birds of prey in the spring. The birds could then be easily shot down. In the local dialect, all species of birds of prey are referred to as "vultures": The Hawk, the Common Buzzard, the Falcon and the Sparrow Hawk. This is how the name "Geier-Knöttl" arose.
This rocky prominence is an ideal take-off and landing strip for predatory birds. The air is warmed by the sun-baked porphyry cliffs and rises. This sometimes produces a strong updraft. This prominence is an excellent outlook point. The "vultures" can thus keep an eye out for their prey (mice, snakes and other small animals). The birds can land with their prey and eat it here. That's why one often finds bones, feathers, hair and other undigested remains of their prey here at the "Geier-Knöttl"
