Geocache Description:

This cache will bring you near an unused bridge where the Houston and Texas Central Railway crossed Wilson Creek on its way from Allen to McKinney.

Houston and Texas Central Railway (H&TC) began as the Galveston and Red River Railway (G&RR). It was started by a Galveston native, Ebenezer Allen in 1848. The railway reached Allen, the town that was named after Ebenezer around 1872. By 1873, it had extended to Red River City, TX and connected with The Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad.

Sam Bass and his gang committed the first train robbery in Texas at the Allen Station, just south of this geocache.

This geocache commemorates Ebenezer Allen and the rail line that came through. The Houston and Texas Central Railway connected Texas to the rest of the country, sharing a rich history and culture through commerce and travel.

There is a small train and tag as a FTF prize.
