The Da Keng Hiking Trail is a 7 km hike that takes you along a tea plantation, across some hills, through a valley road flanked by a creek and rice paddies, and then back along the hills again. The hike takes about 3 hours to complete at a relatively leisurely pace. This is the second of three caches you can find on the Da Keng Hiking Trail. It's a little bit tricky to find the trailhead, which is a major reason why you seldom come across many people on this hike. If you're coming from Taoyuan, heading towards Linkou along the Chenggung Road/Shuren Road, you'll want to take a left at the Central Police University onto Dahu Road. Then you will take a left at Lane 160 DaHu Road and follow the road around the left side of the military base. This will eventually lead you to the trailhead. Once you start the hike, you will first pass a tea plantation on the right and then enter a forested area. You can take either of the paths at the fork when you come to it. I recommend taking the left fork first (NOT directly to the viewing platform, as the sign suggests). There are always hashhouse harrier/climbing group flags attached to trees to let you know you are headed in the right direction. Eventually you'll come down to a ramshackle farm. Turn right BEFORE the farm (again following the small hiking flags) down into the valley where there are some orchards and stone walls and up the other side. When you emerge on the other side, go RIGHT until you come back to the small wooden sign that points you towards the viewing platform. Follow that path up to the wooden platform and you can begin your search for the cache once you're there. Don't forget to bring a pen!
