Longer version - Foxhunter was champion international show-jumper that had a long and very successful career. Standing at 16.3 hands (170cm) high Foxhunter was a golden-bay gelding that lived from the 23th of April 1940 to the 21st of November 1959 and he competed in many international events and Grand Prix, winning 78 of them. A 35 times member of the British Show Jumping Team his highlights include golds at the 1953 Helsinki Olympic Games, Bronze at the 1948 London Olympics, five times winner (1949-1953) of the Prince of Wales Cup in London and the Aga Cup.
Foxhunter and his rider Harry Llewellyn are the only pairing to win the King George V Gold Cup three times (in 1948, 1950 and 1953)
Foxhunter was buried just a few easy walking metres further north from the car park and cache and a plaque marks this.
As I mentioned this is a very good spot to have a walk across to the top of Blorenge which is only just over three quarters of a mile away. Nice and easy, this flatish walk is wonderful on a sunny day, but don't forget you are starting at about 500 metres above sea level at the car park so the weather can change very quickly so usual mountain precautions are needed for the walk (not to get the cache!!)
The Cache
The cache is situated at the end of the car park and is placed for an easy find. Be careful, this car park can get busy on a nice day.
