Covered bridges aren't common in California but there are three covered bridges in Humboldt County. This series was created to tempt you to come out and see them for yourself.
The Brookwood Bridge is located off of scenic Jacoby Creek Road. This bridge was built in 1969 and is 66 feet long. It is the gateway to a beautiful neighborhood and the best parking is on the neighborhood side. Neighbors are aware of the cache and are excited to have people come see the bridge. Apparently the county wanted to replace the bridge with a concrete one a few years ago! There is a sweet pedestrian sidewalk across the bridge so you don't get run over during rush hour. You can also follow the fence line down under the bridge for a beautiful view of the creek and the bridge from below.
