Relatively easy hike if you stay on trail or road. Recommend tennis shoes, hat, suntan lotion and water. Beware of long thorns on dead and living bushes.
Don’t miss this gorgeous spot on Kiholo Bay. It is about a 1.75 mile hike from trail head waypoint N 19º 51.102’ W 155º 54.801’ or turn off main highway at waypoint N 19º 50.278’ W 155º 55.702’ and drive to within 0.5 mile with 2 wheel drive or 100’ with 4 wheel drive.
After finding cache, be prepared to explore a near by fresh water cave slightly north east and about 30’ off the gravel road with mask, snorkel and dive light. On returning to the entrance, from the rear of the cave, enjoy the exquisite emerald blue light illuminating the water through the skylights on sunny days. Also keep an eye open for small fish and crayfish.
Cache contained:
Chop sticks, 2 swim goggles, twist sun hat, SaVON deluxe bath bar, small dive knife, Velcro Silver foot watchband, 2 pair of sunglasses, Hawaiian mug, Kona coffee, magnifying glass, orange carpenters level, United and Delta Airlines playing cards, white key holder, blue post-it notes, Pink Pearl eraser, Parker ballpoint pen, map of the Big Island, book- titled: Super Lateral Thinking Puzzles, poster: Hugging In Paradise, gray ballpoint pen, 3-wood pencils, pencil sharpener (Hot Wheels), and Notepad.
