Riding Shotgun Travel Bug University is south-central Oregon’s premier Travel Bug educational institution. Located in the scenic Swan Lake region of the Klamath Basin, Riding Shotgun Travel Bug University offers travel bugs from around the world the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Riding Shotgun Travel Bug University recognizes that each travel bug is an individual; that all bugs are creative; that all bugs need to succeed. Therefore, Riding Shotgun Travel Bug University respects the individual needs of travel bugs; fosters a caring and creative environment; and emphasizes the social, emotional, physical, intellectual development of each bug.
While attending Riding Shotgun Travel Bug University, your travel bug will have opportunities to travel local, private trails in preparation for journeys along longer paths – building stamina with each trek. Wildlife abound in the region. Antelope, deer, mountain lions, and lynx are all common in the area. Within a few miles of campus, Swan Lake is home to several species of geese, ducks and cranes and dozens of other bird species. A breeding pair of bald eagles nests within a mile of our campus and make frequent visits. Hunting is permitted in select areas, but not on university grounds. Travel bugs that wish to experience wild animals will enjoy the area around Riding Shotgun Travel Bug University!
Swan Lake Mountain is a mere five miles from campus, offering stunning views. Travel bugs wishing to experience nature in all its glory will find inspiration here. We are also within 10 miles of Hogsback Mountain, Stukel Mountain, Devils Garden Volcanic Field, Klamath Lakes (largest inland lake in the US), the Link River (2nd shortest in the world) and the world famous OC&E Trail. Crater Lake, the Cascade Mountains and Lava Beds National Monument are a short day trip away!
High terrain ratings will challenge your travel bug, while hundreds of low terrain rating caches will also enable it to garner many visits in a short time. Difficult puzzles and ingenious disguises will also let your travel bug expand its intellectual side. And yes, we have several 5/5s in the area for travel bugs that want an all around challenge.
Amenities at Riding Shotgun Travel Bug University include safe and secure lodging – we are “Riding Shotgun” in southern Oregon! The University is set among 25 privately owned acres with easy access. 24-hour security on campus is guaranteed. Each student will be welcomed into a room best befitting their size. All but the largest travel bugs will easily find a space in our University. Those with special needs are welcome! We have an in-house repair facility for those travel bugs that have been damaged in their life journey before reaching us. Free wi-fi is available for all students.
We work with our travel bugs and their parents to assure they meet their individual goals. We have a 100% graduation and placement rate! Those travel bugs that seem to be languishing in their studies will be given the attention needed in order to help them succeed. Upon graduation, each travel bug will be awarded a diploma and a current curriculum vita in order to help them pursue their long-term goals.
