One Room School and Cemetery series.
CACHE: Although near the road, you must enter the cemetery to access cache, cemetery laws apply. Make sure you hide the cache with it's natural camo as it was originally intended. Small camoed bottle with log and room for coins. Should be easy enough to find. The hint is a huge giveaway if you have problems.
HISTORY OF CEMETERY: Established around 1841, this cemetery was originally called Webross because of it's location at Webster and Ross Roads. Not far from here was a place called the Shaw Settlement. Many of the early settlers of Shaw and Almont had died in a malaria epidemic and most were buried in unmarked graves in Webster Cemetery. It's been said there was a mass grave during the peak of the epidemic. Names of the dead and the dates are unknown, as it happened prior to 1867, when Michigan started keeping death records regularily.
HISTORY OF WEBSTER SCHOOL: The school was located in the area of the cemetery were this cache is located. You can tell by the lack of graves and the flatness of this corner. It was very common to have a cemetery next to a school, as schools often were used as township halls and churches. Such is the case for Webster. Students resided in both Imlay and Almont Townships, but once the school shuttered it's doors to students for good, most transferred to the school in the township they resided in. I do not know what became of the school, nor do I currently have photos.
