June, 2006... I stopped by the Cache to check on it.. Its still
there but needs a new container. If anyone is heading there please
take a small (6" or so) replacement.. If not I will do it this
summer. Please note. The co-ords have been updated by about
10';... It now sits in plain sight in the middle of the area.
(who else would be there except someone looking for it) so the
difficulty is now a "1". gil
2002 On our way back from a great 4th we decided that the
Etna/Sawyers' Bar area needed a cache and we couldn't decide which
side of the line to place it so....
The cache is located about a 5 or 10 minute walk from the
nearest road, but a few cautions:
1) wear hiking boots. Tennies, sandals, - anything like
that and you will risk a turned ankle or even a possible snake bite
(hey.. who knows!). If you live in the area you will know what I am
talking about. Its an easy hike, just a lot of loose and sharpe
edged rock to work around, and on the warm days who knows what is
basking on them. Slow going and common sense will make it a fun
walk.
2) forget finding it after the first or second snow in the
area. This cache will be under a couple of feet of the white
stuff and there is nothing in it that is worth all that effort..
come back n the spring - its not going anywhere.
Now, if you are hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, then you are
going to walk right by this thing, so take a moment, grab a camera
and enjoy the view from the cache site.. it is breathtaking at
sunset (and a bit chilly too!).
That's it.. and easy score for the passing cachehunter..
When left the cache (a standard tupperware container) contained
something for everyone: . A log and geocache note . A rubber
baseball . A head band . Some silly putty . some other stuff that I
have forgotten about but is prob. worth a fortune..
Good luck.. and good caching....if you get stuck drop me an
email.... Gil and Ali (Ca_surveyor)
