Geocache Description:

It's true, I love Penguins. One of my favorite animals. I will be placing a number of "penguin" themed caches. They are not realted to each other in any way, except that they are all named after....you guessed it....penguins. The cache container will be sized in comparison to the size of the penguin. Small penguin = small cache, medium sized penguin = regular sized cache etc.

The Snares Penguin is found exclusively in the Snares Islands off the coast of New Zealand. They stand approximately 40cm tall and weigh approximately 3kg. There are only 30,000 breeding pairs in the world. That might not seem like a lot, especially compared to other breeds of penguin, but they only occupy a small set of islands.

The Snares Penguin is considered on the smaller side of penguins, so this cache is a small size. It is a brown lock/lock. The cache contains a log only, so please bring a pen/pencil. There is a zipper pull for the FTF prize.

I drove to within 10m of the spot I was when placing the cache. Dependng on 1) time of year and the ground conditions, and 2) possibility of a chain/gate being placed, you might need to use the parking waypoint and walk in.
