Country School 40 Traditional Cache

One-room schools were commonplace throughout rural portions of Pipestone County in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. 

District 40 was approved on June 13, 1882 and the schoolhouse was located on Section 11. As stated in Pipestone County’s 1984 History Book, kids from 5 to young men 21 went to the school through the winter months or for short term. After district dissolved, the student  were transported to Verdi.
