After a day (a bad one) caching in LaSalle I had to stop here and use my cell phone. As a type I saw a spot that would fit a container I had in my Jeeps door cubby hole. So off I went to hide a new LaSalle cache.
Please don't drop it! Empty your pockets too..
The original LaSalle settlement was on Front Road close to the Detroit River. It grew to include Sandwich West Township and Malden Road. Later on, the Heritage Estates area built up.
Laurier Parkway and Normandy Street, from Malden Road to Huron Line, were built to provide east-west access — providing a catalyst for residential development.
The LaSalle Greenway was developed in the late 1990s, with strategic acquisition of important natural areas — woodlots, prairies and wetlands. There are now more than 400 acres of ecologically significant land in public ownership.
The LaSalle trail system was built within the greenway.
