Geocache Description:

I created this easy cache so that if you come to Neosho for Hickory Creek you can come here to see the town and it’s signature park. You should park across the street.

I realized I've been replying incorrectly to many of you. But I may have seen one incorrect answer in the history of this cache.

The coordinates are for a monument commemorating the platting of the town in 1839. For confirmation after visiting the site, send me the name of the national organization whose Neosho chapter erected the monument.

To see more walk about 300 feet south. See the flower clock along the way. Turn right and go to N 36 52.104 W 94 22.323 and go down into the cave to see the water flowing toward the spring. Or go left to N 36 52.123 W 94 22.269. Here the city has searched for the Confederate gold rumored to be hidden in Southwest Missouri. They have found a cave that they are still exploring. Finally, you could go to the square at N 36 52.170 W 94 22.047 where the secessionist members of the Missouri legislature met on Oct. 21 1861 and voted to join the Confederacy. Most historians believe that they lacked a quorum and thus the secession wasn’t legal. Certainly the Union ignored it.
