Geocache Description:

This cache replaces GC5J2E1, a mystery cache by the same name. It should have been a letterbox hybrid. Now it is. This cache features a hand-carved stamp. I would love to know what you think of the stamp, please comment when you log the cache

It's also listed on letterboxing.org

Cache is NOT at the posted coordinates. There are multiple access points to the park and roadside parking near each access

UPDATE: Cache moved and listing updated 19-Nov-2022. The original clue is saved as a screenshot (in photo gallery, if for some reason you want to compare notes)

You have two options for navigating to this cache: Using your GPS alone, or using your GPS and Clues; the choice is yours.

To find the cache using your GPS alone:

  1. Navigate to the posted coordinates
  2. From the posted coordinates, continue straight on the main trail, traveling into the forest (on the wide and obvious tail). Stop when you are exactly 138 meters (453 feet) from where you started (that is, from the posted coordinates). You should be standing at the center of the Y in the trail.
  3. Now, project a waypoint that is 71 meters (234 feet) at 28 degrees. That waypoint will be the cache location.
  4. You can stay on the trail most of the way (cache is about 20 feet off the trail). The cache is in a large old stump, covered with pieces of wood. Please ensure the cache is not visible when you rehide it.

To find the cache using your GPS and Clues:

  1. Using your GPS receiver or app, navigate to the posted coordinates
  2. From the posted coordinates, follow the trail into the forest. Go past the graffiti trees and the BMX jumps
  3. At the Y, stay to the left.
  4. Continue along the main train until you encounter a large-ish rock (larger than a basketball) sticking up in the middle of the trail. From this rock, continue forward 13 steps. Check your GPS / app; you should be about 150 meters from the starting point (the posted coordinates). If you are not even close to being 150 meters, you may want to start over again from the posted coordinates.
  5. Facing forward on the trail, turn to your left so you are 90 degree to the trail. Look for a large old stump with a hole in the middle - it's about 20 feet off the trail
  6. The cache is in the stump, covered with pieces of wood. Please ensure the cache is not visible when you rehide it.

The cache contains a hand-carved stamp. You will need to bring your own ink. Please do not take the stamp - it must stay with the cache. If you like the stamp, please say so in your log. The best part of being a cache owner is hearing how others enjoy finding them. When it was placed, the cache also contained a number of "hunters", of various types. If possible, if you take a "hunter" please leave a different "hunter" (for example, a small plastic wolf would be one type of "hunter"); This is request, not a rule. Thank-you

I hope that this will be a fun hunt. When you choose to search for the cache may affect your enjoyment of the hunt. This forest tends to stay wet and muddy for most of the year. Rubber boots are recommended. Early winter may be the best time, when the ground is hard but while the snow is light
